Kristie Kilgore, Author of Eyes Wide Open: Bodyguard Strategies for Self Protection, public speaker, reiki master, community leadership expert,environmental manager and freelance author has studied martial arts for 20 years, including training in hand-to-hand combat techniques, tactical defense, weapon use and retention techniques, and successful tournament competition in both weaponsand form divisions.
She teaches meditation, including esoteric forms of meditation such as kuji kiri which has been taught in Buddhist temples, and is a certified Reiki Master. Her teaching style has been described as captivating and empowering. She communicates well and understands the protective needs of the active, modern business professional and teenage Americans. She created a special Self Esteem Workshop Instructor for Pre-teen Girls for Soroptomist Intl. and taugh this program from 1997 until 2000.
In addition to martial arts, Ms. Kilgore serves on the Greater Tucson Leadership (GTL) Board of Directors and the Executive Board of Southern Arizona Environmental Management Society. She chairs GTL National Security Day and 2008 and 2009 Environment Day. She has trained in incident command and emergency response techniques for protecting public safety, and has managed environmental hazardous operations.
