The Eyes Wide Open (EWO) self-protection and self-defense class format was created by Eyes Wide Open: Bodyguard Strategies for Self-protection author/Mountain Arts owner Kristie Kilgore with input from bodyguard/ instructor and martial arts friend and brother Shannon Stallard.

Programs are designed to offer life protecting, empowering information to non-martial artists; teaching easy to use bodyguard strategies for daily life. Classes are concept based. Situational training is offered to allow clients to understand violence and learn skills to recognize and avoid it. Use of force is a last resort, EWO focus on response to the most common attacks.
